Abstract
On the one hand, our study shows the different concepts that determine international literature examining the role of homework given in order to increase student effectiveness and ensure equal opportunities. On the other hand, we outline how the issue of homework appears in the context of extracurricular learning and in the relationship network between home and school. The integration of homework into school learning environment was reviewed primarily based on the extracurricular time organization of educational institutions, the practice of extracurricular activities to deepen knowledge, and the role of home learning environment. Our research on the role of homework in the primary schools participating in the Complex Basic Program made it possible to explore the opinions of the heads of institutions, teachers and parents about the significance, role and sanctioning of homework. The results of our study show that the proposal of the Complex Basic Program for the abolition of homework initiated and / or strengthened the common thinking on the practice of homework assignment. From the research’s aspect, an interesting situation presented itself as the institutions encountered pedagogical recommendations, according to which they had to strengthen or in some cases, to develop their professional viewpoint in order to follow or correct this viewpoint. In our study, we present among other issues, the different reactions of the institutions to the recommendations of the pedagogical methodological develop-ment program concerning homework assignment.
