Music and disability – relationship between functions and paradigms throughout history
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this study, the history of music education and the function of music to the paradigms of the approach to disabilities are related. During the literature review, we the conclusion was drawn that music is a universal language and that it plays the same or similar role in all societies throughout history. Just as the early antecedents of music education are all reflected in our current practice, so all the models of thinking about disabilities appear today. By quoting the thoughts of famous philosophers, orators, music teachers, and church leaders of different eras, we present the roles of music and demonstrate the situation of disabled people, thus the reasons for their protection or exclusion. After a longitudinal analysis, we try to draw a conclusion about the connection between the two.
