The impact of Xeropan, online application assisting language learning on the processes of foreign language learning

Abstract
Examining the relationship between technology and the success of language learning and the integration of technology into language teaching is not new. The digital revolution, the development of technology can fundamentally change the way language are taught. However, it is only in the last few years that a new road has opened up for brand-new language learning opportunities. Recently, recognizing the qualitatively new possibilities of language teaching technology, the main question is no longer whether the use of technology affects the effectiveness of language learning, but how it can be maximized to increase the effectiveness of language learning. In our research, we were interested in the extent to which a developmental intervention using Xeropan brings improvement among participants. Xeropan is a game-based online language learning application. Xeropan’s developers envision teaching 100 million students worldwide English and developing students’ reading, writing, speaking and speaking skills. In addition to plenty of visual elements, users also see the curriculum in writing. The scientific validity of the application is provided by Paivio's (1991) double coding theory. The pedagogical intervention took place in a traditional language course for students studying English, with an equal proportion of adult participants by gender. The intervention lasted two months. Based on the results, it can be said Xeropan contributed to the overall English development of the students. Based on the results of the questionnaire measuring student satisfaction, it can be said that students consider Xeropan to be an effective mobile language learning tool.
