Abstract

The present study based on archival sources aims to provide insights to the Horthy-era private-schools’ world. It tries to shed light on what could have been the reason for parental decisions concerning their children’s schooling, also on the given schools’ students’ social/family background and religious affiliation. Based on the available but often fragmented information the study attempts to reveal the inner world of institutes, which had different approaches and methods, focusing on student fluctuation and reasons for school dropouts.
