Abstract
The competitive operation only can be intensified in countries where the general economic and political conditions and the improvement of the social capital are dealt with consciously. All of these can be conducive to creating more values by the cooperation of the participants and through this to improving the general standard of living in both economic and social meaning. The effect of the social capital can be felt even in areas like innovation, which can be an indispensable mean of staying in competition in a globalized world. This study tryes to demonstrate the connections between competitiveness and the social capital by putting the examination of innovation's competitiveness-improving and value-making functions, and by emphasizing the presentation of the role of cooperation and open innovation.
