Abstract

The notions of reading and text comprehension are mostly used as synonyms in research inspired by the results of international surveys of reading and text comprehension, in documents of public education and in everyday usage. This paper will examine the two notions in a multidisciplinary environment (pedagogical, psychological, linguistic). The purpose of exploring the psychic systems, abilities and conventional basic concepts that enable activities of reading and text comprehension (such as phoneme awareness, vo-cabulary, fluency, components and features of text comprehension, etc.) is to help teach-ers to see the elements in a system and give them pointers for their everyday work.
