Board games in teaching library use
Main Article Content
Abstract
Commercially available board games, due to their popularity and experiential education potential, can be used with little modification to library instruction. Memory, Old Maid, Dominoes and Dobble games with special cards help to memorize and understand concepts. Library activities may be turned into tales by the use of storytelling activities. Games that are based on explaining (Concept, Definity) or grouping (Brainstorm, Codenames) concepts are good for teaching information search. Quizzes like Timeline can be used in ... reading, while association games (eg. Dixit) might be effective tools of forming the users’ image of a library by discussing prejudice and inducing conversation.
