Abstract
The total area of Hungary is 93 030 km2, which has undergone some changes over the past 15 years. In this article, we examined within the total area the changes of the production area and the taken out area from 1990 to the present day. After that we analysed the development of production area and agricultural land. The importance of the livestock production decreased from the Transformation until the present day, so it is worth to review the specific features of agricultural land changes (including the various branches of cultivation) and the role of arable crop sectors in crop production. Our analysis is based on the database of Hungarian Central Statistical Office.
