Abstract

In the Carpathian Basin, the Hungarians have experienced a continuous loss of population in recent decades. The population decline of the Hungarians in Hungary also seems to be becoming more and more lasting, despite the national policy interventions. However, the decrease is more significant in the neighboring regions of Transylvania, the Highlands, the South, Transcarpathia, Muravidék, and in Slavonia, which I studied, in the narrower Drava Valley, also in the area called the Croatian Baranya Triangle. In this study, I will examine the educational aspects of this. How the development and quality of primary, secondary and university education influence assimilation. I'm trying to give answers to that. I conducted field trips in the area, conducted in-depth interviews, and reviewed the latest relevant literature. During the analysis I will use the Hungarian versions of the geographical names.
