Abstract
Nowadays, in the age of knowledge-based societies, the properly educated human capital is an absolute market advantage for the developed countries. The quality education system as correlating factor towards the economic growth has been supported by numerous researches, accordingly this is considered as an undisputed fact. For this reason, it cannot be questioned that it is necessary to conduct an in-depth overview of these countries’ education systems from time to time, to revise their functioning in order to identify any problems that might have been occured. In my study, my aim is to make an overview of the current requirements of the Hungarian education system, along with its important tasks and areas of improvement. I have used document analysis for empirical measure, so I am going to present the responsibilities due by the public education system, in order to that the students are able to effectively prepare for the challenges of the labour market and the information society. For the deeper examination of the subject, I have evaluated and compared various relevant reports of different viewpoints. By studying the summary report of the OECD PISA assessment, and the studies that review the results of the IEA PIRLS and TIMSS measures, I could obtain a viewpoint of the experts of the field of the education. Furthermore, whilst also examining the recommendations of The Central Bank of Hungary Competitiveness Programme I could gain valuable insight of a distinguished economical actor.
