Nicolas Chorier’s forgery of Sigea. On the sources of the pre-libertine literature
Main Article Content
Abstract
Nicolas Chorier’s forgery of Sigea, Aloisiae Sigeae Toletanae Toletanae Satyra Sotadica de arcanis Amoris et Veneris, is an important forerunner of libertine literature. The biography of the real author and the circumstances of its creation are largely known, but the text has been little researched because of its obscene content. A translation of the complete work is currently being prepared, and the article focuses on the sources of sexual vocabulary.
