Abstract

The well-known writer of pasquinade of the 17th century, Ferenc Szentpáli wrote a pasquinade about Mihály Teleki in 1690 or in 1691, immediately after the death of Mihály Teleki, who was the most influential peer and major general in Transylvania. We don't know what the disagreement was between Szentpáli and Teleki. The essay presents previously unknown archival document. This document partly explains the source of the disagreement: it refers to a third party's, János Páter's and his family's roles in the affair. János Páter was a Greek merchant and he had defining role in this era. Also, in this disagreement the Páter family and Mihály Teleki stood against Szentpáli, who was the leader of Vízakna at this time.
