About the Journal
Acta Hispanica is a scientific and indexed (MATARKA, ProQuest, LATINDEX, BASE, HUMANUS, EPA, CORE) journal of the Department of Hispanic Studies published annually since 1996. It is an interdisciplinary collection of articles and studies on Hispanic culture, history and literature as well as on Spanish linguistics written in Spanish, Catalan, Galician or Portuguese, and in some cases in English.
The investigations on Latin American and Spanish history began at the University of Szeged, with the initiative of Professor Tibor Wittman. He founded in 1967 the Department of Medieval Universal History and History of Latin America and in parallel, in the same year, the series Acta Histórica Studia Latinoamericana was born that had 15 volumes until 1992. In 1993, Ádám Anderle founded the Department of Hispanic Studies. Just three years after the foundation of the department, as a successor of Studia Latinoamericana, a new publication was born, Acta Hispanica, a Spanish-language yearbook of the department.
The chief editor of the first twelve volumes was Ádám Anderle. In 2008, Tibor Berta took over the direction of the department along with the editing tasks of the yearbook. The new chief editor intended to follow the traditions started by editing essays belonging to various fields of research, but also introduced new features, such as the renewal of the image elements of the yearbook. Since 2014, as director of the Department of Hispanic Studies, Zsuzsanna Csikós is the chief editor of the yearbook.
