Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction
In the Western societies the body ideal takes a great part how women perceive themselves and how they accept their body changes during the life span, e.g. precnancy.
Objectives
The purpose of my research was to find out what factors contributed to body image dissatisfaction during pregnancy. I was focusing on how the western cultural body ideal effects on pregnant women’s body image and their perception and opinion about weight gain during pregnancy.
Method
I used nonprobability sampling methods and quantitative research techniques.
Results
57% of pregnant women did not experience any changes on their body image during pregnancy, while 43% of maters reported that body image is effected by pregnancy body changes. 49% of maters body image did not effected by the media conveyed body ideals.
Conclusion
The results show that pregnancy does not effect on body image dissatisfaction, the maters changed their eating patterns for healthier nutrition. Media use does not effected on body image either.
