Absztrakt
In the life of an organization, including law enforcement organizations, it is necessary to recognize, identity and introduce measures that are aimed at improving the organizational structure, management, leadership and efficiency. The responsibilities of the Hungarian Police Force have changed not only quantitatively but also qualitatively since Hungary's accession the European Union and the Schengen Zone. Security is a priority in the member states of the Union, which levies extraordinary responsibilities on the police. These responsibilities require a conscious and coordinated use of organization development and management improvement measures. Earlier, as an officer in the police force, I was involved in that work. The subject of the present work is a presentation of a primary survey that is related to the organization development of a specific police department. The work, conducted by the author, is still in progress. The survey is based upon the findings of an earlier pilot project conducted with the help of inventories. Certain features of that project are also presented here. Both research projects are parts of my doctoral work, and are expected to contribute to the verification of my initial work hypothesis.
