Absztrakt
This paper contains a translation of the declámatión De originals peccato (On the Original Sin) written by Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim and a foreword. In the latter I provide a short comparison between Agrippa's work and the similarly entitled treatise by Jacobus Palaeologus. Both authors emphasize the principal responsibility of Adam in the history of the original sin, and both treat the narration of the Genesis as an allegory of the transgression of faith towards God. However, there are important differences between the two conceptions. Agrippa's concepts are embedded in the Hermetic-Platonic doctrine of the embodied soul, while Palaeologus does not refer to this tradition. Agrippa interprets the original sin with the act of sexual intercourse between Adam and Eve, and the snake with the membrum virile, while Palaeologus does not mention the possibility of such an interpretation.
